Seesmic Shows Off A Pretty Windows Phone 7 Twitter Client… 2 Months Ago
by JonBot on May.20, 2010, under Windows Phone Thoughts
“The company just announced a Silverlight-based plug-in platform and SDK at MIX, too, and Seesmic (Seesmic) for Windows Phone will support that. So, as you can see below, Bing Maps integration is included, and more creative ideas from third-parties will be possible, too. Seesmic has already released apps for BlackBerry (BlackBerry Rocks!) and Google (Google) Android (Android) smartphones, but not for Apple’s iPhone (iPhone). The Windows Phone version appears basic in terms of features, with the exception of the Silverlight plug-in support. However, it does look gorgeous, and it fits in well with Windows Phone 7′s style and aesthetics.”

So here’s a weird one. The Mashable post that I got the above shots from went live March 15, during the MiX madness. We posted that Seesmic had put a few things out there at that time, but never explicitly covered this client – and apparently no one else did either. Now that it’s a slow news day, some have dug up Mashable’s post and are treating it as if it’s new. Maybe I’m missing something, but it looks like old (albeit interesting & cool) news just now surfacing. Better late than never!

Multitouch on a Resistive HTC Device
by JonBot on Apr.24, 2010, under Windows Phone Thoughts
“”Multitouch on a resistive screen?” We must be joking, right? Not at all — if we’ve learned anything from our encounters with a little firm named Stantum, resistive multitouch is not only possible, but potentially preferable to its capacitive counterpart. Of course, that knowledge doesn’t help you any if you’re currently stuck with single finger commands, but if your phone is made by HTC and running Windows Mobile, you may one day get to see what two digit input feels like. Adel Al Zubeir figured out that when two fingers are placed on a single-touch screen, the digitizer reads the spot between the two… and with a little bit of math, he cooked up a program that can figure out the relative position of both fingers to allow vaguely useful pinch-to-zoom and other dual-touch gestures.”

You know what the sad part of this post is? The following 3 words: “Proof of concept”. So yes, pseudo-multitouch is possible on Windows Mobile. But each and every one of your favorite software apps would need to enable it for you to be able to use it.
